Premier Equestrian Proudly Promotes “Made In America” Products
Sandy, UT (December 22, 2011) – Premier Equestrian, a leading supplier of dressage arenas, horse jumps, arena footing and stable accessories, has made a conscious decision to purchase “Made In America” products and proudly stands behind their commitment to help the local economy. Premier is well-known within the equestrian community for producing superior products, from dressage arenas used at the World Equestrian Games and the USDF Symposium, to arena footing for the rings at the World Dressage Masters to custom jumps that fill rings at prestigious shows across the country.
Wellington Rider Stephanie Frederick Wins Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award at International Horse Sport Dressage Show
“I truly believe we need to take care of our own country and support each other,” said Heidi Zorn, President of Premier Equestrian, a Utah-based company. “I would say that 98 to 99% of our products are made in North America and it was definitely a conscious decision we made to help our own economy."
Zorn said Premier did investigate having molded plastic products – such as dressage arenas, dressage letters and flower boxes, jump standards and jump poles -- made in China but after studying the facts they were convinced more than ever that they needed to employ from the local market. “When we checked into China we discovered that they did not guarantee quality control, they would charge us for putting UV inhibitors in the plastic products without actually guaranteeing the UV inhibitors would be put in and they weren’t willing to honor our intellectual property rights to not use our molds to go into competition against us,” Zorn said.
Zorn said the decision to have Premier’s products “Made in America” is one that the company is proud of and stands behind. “I am a real advocate that we should take care of ourselves and not foreign markets,” she said. “The best news is that we are very pleased with all of the companies we work with and have really found the American companies to be honorable and ethical.”
Premier employs molders in Utah as well as in California. “I really like our plastics that are made locally because we are able to control the UV inhibitors as well as impact modifiers and have everything produced according to specification without cutting corners,” she said, adding that Premier’s products, such as their dressage arenas, not only meet FEI and USEF published specifications but have a five year warranty against fading and discoloration due to weather or sunlight and are constructed with high-quality impact and UV-resistant polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene materials.
Premier’s products are sold around the globe and world-class riders from a variety of disciplines support Premier. “Our website offers extensive and informative information that can help horse owners understand the differences in everything from types of arenas we sell to the different types of horse footing available from Premier,” Zorn said, adding that Premier also has a YouTube channel featuring tips from professionals.
In addition to arenas, footing and jumps, Premier’s extensive website also includes equestrian necessities such as interlocking stall mats, base stabilization grids, carts, feed containers, water tanks, troughs and specialty hardware. For the rider, Premier offers helmets, gloves, Equine Comfort Products sheepskin saddle pads, educational material and training equipment. “We have some very exciting things for horse owners and riders,” Zorn said. Premier Equestrian also offers a complete line of horse jumps and horse jumping equipment, including jump standards, gates, walls, jump cups, horse jump poles, sponsor jumps, and cavaletti.
