Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award at the Utah Dressage Society Annual Show

Evan Hills Wins Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award at the Utah Dressage Society’s 39th Annual Show

Fairfield, UT (August 22, 2011)– Evan Hills, a dressage rider who trains with Gary Lawrence, recently earned himself a helmet from Charles Owen when he won the Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award at the Utah Dressage Society’s 39th Annual Show, August 12-13 at Millbrook Farms in Fairfield, Utah.  Hills displayed a great attitude throughout the entire show and was constantly asking what else he could do to help the show run smoothly.  This combined with his kindness to fellow competitors and his horse earned Hills the award.

In addition to an excellent attitude toward showing, Hills is also a decorated competitor.  In 2008, he and his horse, Megabucks, were selected to be a demonstration ride for the USDF National Symposium with Kyra Kyrklund; in 2009 the pair were named the ISR/Oldenburg and USDF All Breed Award Junior Second Level Reserve Champions.  The Utah Dressage Society (UDS) 39th Annual Show hosted approximately 200 rides over two days, a far cry from the early days of the Society when ten people signed up on a piece of paper in 1970.  The first UDS Annual Show took place a year before the United States Dressage Federation(USDF) was formed, and so the show committee had to develop their own tests for the event.  This year’s show was held at Millbrook Farm, which is the home training base for Hills’ trainer, Gary Lawrence.  When asked about what makes him such a gracious competitor, Hills replied, “We have a great bunch of youths in this organization and we all try to help each other out and support each other.”

Premier Equestrian, one of the largest suppliers of dressage arenas, horse jumps, arena footing and stable accessories, was pleased to name Hills the Sportsmanship Award recipient at the Utah Dressage Society (UDS) show.  Heidi Zorn, president of Premier Equestrian, congratulated Hills on his attitude and helpful nature.  “We at Premier Equestrian promote safety and positivity by sponsoring the Sportsmanship Award,” said Zorn.  “It’s a wonderful way to acknowledge people who enjoy the sport and are willing to see everyone succeed, and Evan was obviously a great match.  For being such a great sport, Evan earned himself our award and a Charles Owen helmet.  He could not have been a more gracious winner, and cute as can be.”

Premier’s products have been embraced by the equestrian community and in 2010 the company was thrilled to supply the dressage arenas for the World Equestrian Games, as well as the dressage warm-up arena, driving arena, driving warm-up arena and the flower boxes and dressage letters. “In addition to presenting the Sportsmanship Award at the UDS 39th Annual show, Premier was also an arena sponsor.  We enjoy giving back to the riders and societies that support dressage across the country. Premier also supplied GGT Footing for the dressage arenas at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center during the World Dressage Masters,” Zorn said. “Proper horse arena footing is a big issue and Premier has the answers to the most often asked questions when it comes to arena footing.”
