Premier Launches Canine Division Debuting New Rings and Jumps During AKC/Eukanuba National Championships

Premier Launches Canine Division Debuting New Rings and Jumps During AKC/Eukanuba National Championships

Orlando, FL (December 26, 2012) – Premier successfully launched their new canine division to the overwhelming delight of dog breeders, spectators and exhibitors during the AKC/Eukanuba National Championships held in Orlando, Florida. Working directly with Eukanuba, Premier Canine’s new conformation rings and dog agility jumps debuted at the “Celebrate Dogs” Championships, receiving rave reviews from dog enthusiasts as well as from the American Kennel Club itself.

“We tried something brand new,” states Jason Taylor, Director of Communications and Influencer Relations for Eukanuba, “We hooked up with Premier to design a show ring that would accommodate dog conformation judging, which has never been done anywhere else in the world. And I tell you, everyone is loving these Premier rings!” Taylor also explained that dog shows are much different than horse shows because of the different sizes and variety of the breeds.

In the past, it has been difficult for judges and spectators to clearly see all the dogs through an unobstructed view due to the traditional one-size-fits all show rings used in dog shows. Now, thanks to Premier’s innovation and experience in the show arena industry, seeing the dogs during their biggest performance is no longer a problem. “Premier’s rings provide the necessary boundary, and it does so in a very elegant way, but in the end, it’s about being able to see the dogs. These rings allow for this better than anything that anyone has ever seen before.”

Taylor also describes the need for dog show rings to be extremely versatile. “We’re constantly reconfiguring rings based on breed size,” he says, “Different breeds need different size rings, and with the new Premier rings, this is very quickly done because they are so easy to move and easy to set up. And the flower boxes look absolutely beautiful!”

Premier Canine’s new dog conformation arenas are made with 100% UV resistant PVC, and are designed for easy set up and installation. The arena size is 60’ x 60’ and comes with support cones that are 12” tall, as well as 1.5” x 5.5” rails that are 10’ long. These arenas have been very successful in horse shows for years, and feature qualities like wind stability, UV resistance and extreme durability.

In addition to the rings, Premier Canine also debuted their new dog agility jumps. “I have loved dogs my whole life,” states Shirley Zorn, co-founder of Premier Canine. “Every breed, every color, and every size. So when my sister, Heidi and her husband, Mark asked me if I was interested in working with them to expand Premier’s business to include dog jumps, it was a dream come true. So, we went to work and developed a line of dog agility products that are safe, high quality, easy to use and fun for the dogs.”

One of these jumps was awarded to lucky raffle prize winner, June Diem during the Championships. The Premier Canine dog agility jumps provide the same high quality standard that people have come to expect from Premier. Made with an enhanced foot design, the jump sets include wing standards, one striped pole along with a jump strip on each standard. The jump strips are marked with the heights and made for easy set up. “Our products are designed for all of those who love their dogs and want to give them the best!” adds Zorn.

Premier Equestrian Signs on as VIP Sponsor of 2013 Dressage Summit

Premier Equestrian Signs on as VIP Sponsor of 2013 Dressage Summit

Wellington, FL (December 10, 2012) - Dressage enthusiasts visiting Wellington in the winter of 2013 will have the opportunity to attend a very unique learning experience, which will feature an unmatched collaboration of the world’s top dressage masters and equestrian psychologists.  The Dressage Summit is a three-day event bringing together four modern-day masters in an unprecedented combination of classical dressage and contemporary equestrian training.  Featuring classical riding master Walter Zettl, renowned classical dressage author and clinician Charles de Knuffy, FEI “I” judge in eventing and dressage Christoph Hess, and natural horsemanship experts Linda and Pat Parelli, The Dressage Summit brings the historical art of dressage into today’s show ring for the benefit of both horses and riders alike.  Premier Equestrian will support the Summit as the official VIP host, and is dedicated to promoting and supporting dressage across the United States.

Walter Zettl, Linda Parelli, and Christoph Hess Dressage Summit 2013

“Walter’s knowledge of classical dressage is unsurpassed,” explains Mark Neihart, CEO of Premier Equestrian. “He possesses information that came from the great masters hundreds of years ago.  Heidi Zorn, the President of Premier Equestrian, knew that Walter’s experience and knowledge were something that needed to be shared with dressage riders and trainers in conjunction with other top names in the sport.”  Zettl was trained for the cavalry using classical principles; the goal of training was to create an athlete while at the same time preserving the horses mentally, physically and emotionally.   Zorn continues, “Walter understands what a great animal and athlete the horse is.  His compassion for them runs deep.  The goal of his training is to inspire the horse’s confidence in the rider while developing his natural athletic ability, and The Dressage Summit is a way for this theory to reachsome of the top competitive riders in the United States.”

Zettl will be joined by today’s modern dressage leaders and masters, Charles de Knuffy, Christoph Hess and Linda and Pat Parelli.  This combination brings together the best of classical dressage, contemporary equestrian sport training and natural horsemanship methods. Held on February 9-11, 2013 at the Global Dressage Festival’s indoor stadium, these three days will focus on working together to build stronger horse/human partnerships in classical and competitive dressage.  Zettl, the Parellis, de Knuffy, and Hess will demonstrate how to apply the fundamental principles of classical dressage to every level of the sport while respecting the dignity of both horse and human. This groundbreaking collaboration between dressage masters and top horsemen provides a rare opportunity for dressage enthusiasts of all levels. “We want horses to be honored for their amazing service to mankind,” states Zorn. “Premier Equestrian will help in any way to promote this goal.”

While Premier is known for their dressage arenas—they provided the dressage arena equipment for the new Global Dressage Festival in Wellington as well as thedressage arenas and dressage letters for the 2010 World Equestrian Games inKentucky—Premier is also known for their footing.  Premier’s website offers extensive and informative information designed to help horse owners understand the differences in horse arena footing and footing amendments.

Highest Scoring Friesian Stallion in The Netherlands Imported to the United States

Highest Scoring Friesian Stallion in The Netherlands Imported to the United States

Sandy, UT (October 31, 2012) – When Ashley Simmons, owner of Black Magic Farms, traveled to The Netherlands in search of the perfect Friesian stallion, she didn’t realize that she would be bringing back a first-of-his-kind superstar.  “Margo and I went over for 3 days and rode 24 stallions,” she explains about the trip she made with trainer Margo Gogan of Hilltop Dressage, “We looked at everything from 3-year-olds to 10-year-olds, and from barely broke to Grand Prix level.”  Simmons describes that she had almost given up hope of ever owning another dream-horse, but then, they found him - a horsethat did something no other Friesian has done before.  On July 8th, at the KNHS Subli Championship in Kootwijk in The Netherlands, Friesian stallion, Ype (show name Yabring), received an impressive 80.20% and took reserve champion in the FEI 5-year-old test within a field of warmbloods.  It is the highest score ever received by a Friesian in the history of the Subli Championships.

Ashley Simmons, owner of Black Magic Farms

“He is just the right age,” Simmons says about Ype. “He has the build and the movement of a horse capable of going all the way to Grand Prix.  And he has a track record,” she adds.  Trainer, Judith Pieterson, had been working with Ype for only 15 months prior to the show.  During that time, she also rode the 5-year-old to win the first game of the KNHS- Subli Championship for young horses in Almelo with an amazing 76.6% and is consistently receiving 9’s for his phenomenal trot. Jury member Marleen Le Mat stated, "Yabring is a horse who creates a lot of publicity for the Friesian breed. He has much balance and freedom in his movements."

Ype's sire is Tsjabring 429 Sport.  In the Friesian registry, the “sport” predicate means he excels as a show horse, and in his case, dressage. His dam is Helina who has the distinction of being a Ster/Preferent mare. Ster means she is of higher quality, and preferent means she producesfoals of higher quality. His dam's sire is Naen 264 Preferent, which again distinguishes the stallion as one who produces foals of higher quality.  In fact, Ype has a very exceptional pedigree within the Friesian registry. Every dam in his pedigree is either Ster, Ster/Preferent, Model (perfect) or Model/Preferent.  In four generations, he has nine sires that are either Sport, Preferent or Sport/Preferent.

“A Friesian look with Warmblood movement is what I look for,” states Simmons, and she considers herself very fortunate to have found Ype, who fits this bill perfectly.  Not that long ago, Simmons didn’t think she would have the strength to be able to look for another horse, let alone find another Friesian of this caliber.  Last April, she faced a devastating loss when her beloved 6-year-old Friesian stallion, Tennyson, had to be put down. “You wait your whole life for that one horse, and then suddenly he’s gone,” she explains. “I just thought, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’”  However, with the support of her encouraging husband she made the trip to The Netherlands, and gave it one more try.  And now, Black Magic Farms has a superstar in the barn, ready to continue to show the world what a Friesian can do in thedressage ring, and shine all the way to the top.  So, look for Ype in the ribbons in 2013 and beyond.

Photo: Ype (show name Yabring), received an impressive 80.20% and took reserve champion in the FEI 5-year-old test within a field of warmbloods at the KNHS Subli Championship in Kootwijk in The Netherlands. It is the highest score ever received by a Friesian, and Ype was recently imported to the United States to continue his dressage career. (Photo courtesy of Moniek Rozemeijer)

Herkind attitude, supporting husband and, of course, a couple of good horses, impressed the show staff enough to award her with the Sportsmanship Award, sponsored by Premier Equestrian. The Premier Sportsmanship Award looks beyond the numbers and scores of the perfect ride or test, and considers the contribution of the competitors themselves to the true spirit of an equestrian sports event.  Eckles embraces this spirit fully at every show she attends, even amidst the distractions and stress of a very busy professional and personal lifestyle.

Kindness Goes a Long Way for Region 5 Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award Winner Sandy Eckles

A full time small animal veterinarian, Eckles owns and operates Cottage Veterinary Hospital, along with her husband, Milo, in Parker, Colorado.  Their family consists of two daughters, Jenn and Laura, 4 dogs, 4 horses, 2 cats and a cockatiel. “I am like most other adult amateurs trying to juggle work, family and a passion for horses,” states Eckles, “and although I may get the credit for the wins, it truly ‘takes a village.’”  She continues, “I have a great instructor, Dee Packard, with the patience to help an amateur with two young horses, a family and work staff who understands how much it means to me to have time to ride and show, and showmanagement staffs whose smile and willingness to make the show experience apleasant one keeps us coming back.  But, especially, I have a husband who gives horses baths, cleans tack, cooks dinner and keeps me sane and humble.”

Eckles rode her two 7-year old-Dutch Warmblood geldings in the Championships.  She and Andreo won the Adult Amateur Training Level Championships with a score of 72.200 and also won the Adult Amateur 1st Level Championships with a score of 69.032.  Riding her other horse, Arnoud, she was the Reserve Adult Amateur 1st Level Champion (second place) with a score of 65.726.  “I feel we all need to find the joy in our horses even in the midst of the pressures of competition, and I was tickled to find so many competitors and show staff at the regional championships that were friendly, offering to help others and quick to share experiences and advice,” Eckles explains. “Our ability to smile and say ‘Have a good ride’, and mean it, makes us not just a community of riders but of horsemen.”  This little bit of kindness earned Eckles the tri-colored ribbon and a new saddle pad from Premier Equestrian. “I want to thank Premier Equestrian for their support of our sport,” she emphasizes, “We all appreciate it!”

Heidi Zorn of Premier Equestrian presented the award to Eckles during the show.  “We take pride in recognizing riders like Sandy who not only are competitive, but also kind, friendly and who contribute to the positive overall atmosphere at a show.  Premier is proud to sponsor this award at events across the country,” said Zorn.

Premier Equestrian Announces Athletex™ Footing – Where the Rubber Meets the Road to Victory

Premier Equestrian Announces Athletex Footing – Where the Rubber Meets the Road to Victory

Wellington, FL (October 19, 2012) – Premier Equestrian is proud to announce Athletex™ Footing, their latest and one of the most innovative and eco-friendly solutions for equestrian arena footing available.   Athletex™ is made from recycled athletic shoes, and provides reduced shear, stable traction and durable cushioning to help set any horse on the road to victory. This very unique recycled product is made up of a mixture of rubber, providing cushion, as well as textile for stability.

Athletex Equestrian Rubber Footing

“We here at Premier Equestrian have been working with arenas and footing for a long time,” states Premier Equestrian co-founder, Mark Neihart about their expertise in equestrian arenas. “We choose products that work, products that you will find us using in our own arena, that we trust and that provide value. Most importantly, these products are safe, effective, and usable.”  Athletex™ is suited for dressage, jumping, western pleasure, vaulting, and all other types of arenas.  Because of the traction and cushioning, it is perfect for multi-purpose arenas. Athletex™ is mixed with sand at one pound per square foot which is a ratio that gives the surface spring, cushion, and stability. Athletex™ is suitable to mix with a wide variety of sands and it will perform in course sand, fine sand or sand that falls in-between.

The recycling process produces two types of Athletex™; light and heavy. Athletex™ Light is made up mostly from the top part of the shoe which is woven and non-woven synthetic textiles. Athletex™ Heavy is mainly from the bottom of the shoe which is natural and synthetic rubber of various densities. Both Athletex Light and Athletex Heavy contain textile and rubber, with the difference being that the light blend has more textiles and the heavy blend has more rubber.  “Whichever product you choose, Athletex™ Heavy or Athletex™ Light, or a combination of both, your equine athletes will be performing on the same materials as human athletes, and they will thank you for it!” assures Heidi Zorn, President of Premier Equestrian. The cost of Athletex™ Equestrian Footing  is 29¢ per pound (freight additional).

Premier Groomer and Watering System

Introducing the Premier Groomer by Premier Equestrian. Outfitted with S-tines, a leveling bar, and a roller the Premier Groomer combines several design elements that extend its’ grooming capabilities. The Premier Groomer will break, mix, fluff, level and finish in one pass. The Premier Groomer features adjustable tine depth, an adjustable leveling bar, and a multi-point roller giving complete flexibility in all aspects of arena maintenance.

Different arena surfaces need different maintenance. Textile arenas need to be churned and blended consistently for best results. The Premier Groomer is perfect for this action. Crumb Rubber arenas need to be mixed and leveled; the Premier Groomer can handle this task easily. Heavily compacted footing is no match for the Premier Groomer. It can easily break up even the most hard and difficult surfaces. The Premier Groomer can also be used for tilling pastures and road maintenance.

The Premier Groomer can be used with or without a 3-point hitch. To pull behind an ATV, lawn tractor, or other single point hitch vehicle just add the tongue and ratchet-jack. The Premier Groomer is powdered-coated to resist rusting.

Sandy, UT (August 22, 2012) – Premier Equestrian is proud to introduce their latest, most advanced system for riding arena grooming and maintenance called the Premier Groomer. This highly efficient groomer combines several design elements that increase grooming capabilities, allowing it to break, mix, fluff, level compact, and finish in just one pass. It can also water the arena simultaneously when the Premier Groomer Water Attachment is added, saving both time and money in arena management.

Wellington Rider Stephanie Frederick Wins Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award at International Horse Sport Dressage Show

As many managers know, different arena surfaces have specific maintenance requirements, and finding a solution that can handle them all can be difficult. For example, textile arenas need to be churned and blended consistently for best results, while crumb rubber arenas need to be mixed and leveled. The Premier Groomerhandles all of these tasks with ease. It can even break up the most hard and difficult surfaces, such as heavily compacted footing. The Premier Groomer can also be used for tilling pastures and road maintenance.

Outfitted with S-tines, The Premier Groomer features adjustable tine depth, an adjustable leveling bar, and a multi-point roller providing complete flexibility in all aspects of arena maintenance.  Powder-coated to resist rusting, The Premier Groomer can be used with or without a 3-point hitch. Simply add the tongue and ratchet-jack to pull behind an ATV, lawn tractor, or other single point hitch vehicle.

When added, The Premier Groomer Water Attachment and watering system allows the arena surface to be groomed and watered at the same time.  Designed to sit atop the Premier Groomer, this combined system is the first fully capable groomer and watering cart on themarket.  The Water Attachment system includes a 63-gallon tank, a 1 HP gasoline engine, a 1” pump, brass clog-free nozzles and a wireless remote to turn it off and on from the tractor seat. The entire unit is self contained and easy to operate. Simply fill the tank, start the engine, and go. The tank will pump empty in about 4 minutes, providing ample saturation while grooming.

The water tank sets over the roller wheel so it doesn’t affect the tine depth, while the additional weight of the water assists in surface compacting during grooming.  The Water Attachment is perfect for arenas that have little or no water available or for those thatneed additional deep moisture saturation. The Premier Groomer and Water Attachment is available in 6’ and 7’ widths, and very little assembly is required.  To preview the Premier Groomer and Water attachment, visit YouTube.
