Olympians Turn to ProTex Footing by Premier Equestrian

Olympians Turn to ProTex Footing by Premier Equestrian

Sun Valley, ID (September 4, 2013) – Dressage Olympians Debbie McDonald and Adrienne Lyle turned to professional footing specialists, Premier Equestrian, to solve a 20 year old footing issue. River Grove Farms, owned by Peggy and Parry Thomas in Sun Valley, Idaho, was built in 1981 and has 4 full sized arenas.

“For the last 20 years we've been pounding the footing and it just seemed worn out. The sand in 2 of our arenas was tired, broken down and lifeless,” said Adrienne Lyle, McDonald’s longtime student and 2012 Olympic competitor.

In July 2013, Premier Equestrian was called upon to solve the footing issue for these Olympic athletes in an unconventional way. The arenas were already equipped with a sufficient base and sand but were in need of a makeover. After a sieve test analysis was done on their existing sand by Premier’s staff, Premier Equestrian determined that the low cost and highly effective solution would be to add the ProTex footing to the existing sand surface. This solution was a fraction of the cost of replacing the entire footing; Premier was able to completely revitalize River Grove Farms’ arenas and provide exceptional footing for these International dressage competitors.

Lyle stated, “I can't believe how much life Premier Equestrian was able to put back into our footing. The ProTex footing stabilized their surface, minimized the dust, retained more moisture thus reducing the need to water, and kept the surface from compacting. What a huge improvement.  The cost was a fraction of a complete redo.”

As a leader in the equestrian footing industry, Premier Equestrian strives to provide exceptional value and offer products that are safe, effective, and usable for the competitive sporthorse.  At River Grove Farms, Premier Equestrian added ProTex footing which protects horses by providing increased stabilization and maximum shock absorption.  The new footing offers the cushion and rebound needed as well as high stability by increasing traction and sheer strength.

“We offer a free sieve analysis for our customers’ sand and use this test to determine the suitability for our arena footing products: ProTex, Master’s Blend, Athletex, Prostride, and GGT Footing,” said Premier’s CEO, Mark Neihart. He continued, “One of the goals of Premier is to educate horse owners so they can better understand and address their footing needs.”

Considered America’s leading manufacturer and distributor of equestrian arenas, Premier Equestrian’s website offers extensive information to help horse owners understand the differences in arenas as well as arena footing.

“Whichever Premier Equestrian footing product you choose, your equine athletes will be performing on the best material available and they will thank you for it!” assures Heidi Zorn, President of Premier Equestrian.

Premier Equestrian also offers a complete line of horse jumps and horse jumping equipment, along with state of the art dressage arenas and dressage letters.  Other Premier products include barn accessories, books & DVDs, as well as arena grooming and maintenance equipment. ProTex™ Arena Footing – is our private label brand of textile footing designed for light use arenas. We have formulated ProTex for the budget minded arena owner that wants the benefits of a textile footing but is constrained by budget.

ProTex Arena Footing for Horses by Premier Equestrian

Protex is manufactured for us by the GGT factory and is made from the same high quality felt and fiber materials. It is cut slightly smaller and has 10% fiber content. Use it for dressage rings and pleasure rings.

ProTex offers excellent impact absorption, high traction and stability to support and protect your horses hooves and legs, all this at an affordable price.

The GGT textile and fiber found in ProTex™ are made from new, not recycled, materials. This product is safe, non-toxic and non-allergenic and will not effect humans or animals.

When comparing other textile products to ours. Be aware that many competing products from other competitors may come from post consumer waste, i.e. carpet fiber, upholstery, and urban waste products. These waste products may contain mold, bacteria and residue that may be harmful to you and your horse.

Premier Equestrian only distributes GGT Footing textile products that are made from new polyester material. This assures that you are getting a clean non-toxic, non-allergenic material.

However, unless you are contracting our consulting services, choosing the correct sand and mixing the product is your responsibility. Results can and will vary depending on what material is available in your area. If you choose to perform your own installation, which many people do, Premier Equestrian can not be and is not responsible or liable for your installation.

See tab: Recommended Sand or click here for sand quality and types of sand to determine if textile footing is right for you.

Sand Note: All our footings are designed to be mixed with sand. There are, however, significant variations in sand in each area. Not all sands are appropriate to use as footing for your equestrian arena. There are many factors you should consider in determining the appropriate sand, including, without limitation, your riding style, the number of horses using the ring and the duration of such ring use, watering capability for the ring, the status of any current existing footing materials, seasonal weather conditions, and whether you ride on an indoor or outdoor horse arena. Combining textile and fibers with the correct type and depth of sand is required in order to build a safe arena surface. Please choose properly sized arena sand based on your proposed use. Feel free to call and discuss your arena questions with one of our representatives today!

Premier Equestrian offers a free sand analysis test report to help you determine the best solution for your arena.
